Taste the Region: Gourmet Maps from Brno to the Vineyards
October is now behind us, and one of the most interesting things it brings every year is the annual review of the best food spots in Brno and South Moravia, highlighted in the Gourmet campaign and guides.
Gourmet map of Brno
In the heart of Brno, the city-tourism team at TIC Brno have created the guide known as Gourmet Brno. According to their website, it was “the absolute first to come out with this food guide in our country, and there still isn’t anything like it anywhere else in Czechia.”
It isn’t a commercial directory: it curates a non-commercial listing of quality gastronomic projects in Brno across eight categories — restaurants, bistros, cafés, sweet-shops, wine bars, pubs, bars and take-away. The visuals are polished, the nominations and ratings come from a dedicated committee of experts, and the result is a refined map of where to eat in Brno with confidence.

The project takes a region-wide approach in Gourmet South Moravia (run by the South Moravia Tourist Authority). Their website invites you to “Discover the finest spots in South Moravia, where exceptional flavours meet unforgettable atmospheres.”
The guide covers six categories: restaurants, bistros, cafés & sweet shops, wineries & wine bars, pubs & breweries, and “small gastro stops.”
One of its strong points is that it also tracks the seasonal offers and highlights smaller, perhaps less obvious venues (for example food trucks or small bakeries) that contribute to the region’s vibrant food-scene.

Explore and eat with assurance. And not just at the touristy spots
Together, these guides offer more than just lists of places to eat: they help frame the culture and character of dining in Brno and in South Moravia. For Brno, the focus is urban, curated and built around trusted recommendations; for South Moravia, the scope is wider, embracing wine, craft beer, smaller stops and a sense of regional discovery.
If you’re exploring these parts of the region and want to eat with assurance — not just at the touristy spots — these two guides are an excellent starting point.
Whether you’re planning to explore just in Brno or spice up your weekend hikes and trips through the region, following these picks will lead you to some of the best taste experiences the region has to offer.
The smart thing here is the map, which either helps you decide the direction of your next trip, or points you to the best place around after you’re done sightseeing.
Both guides exist in practical pocket-size printed versions and an online presence. So, here’s to enjoying life in Brno and beyond – nazdraví!
