Free interpreters at Brno public offices: Here's how you book one

The Brno Expat Centre provides interpreters at selected municipal offices. Their help is free, makes official procedures more accessible and communication smoother for you. Now possible at:

  1. Registry of Driving Licenses
  2. Car Registry
  3. Matrika (Registry Office)

1) + 2) Registry of Driving Licenses and Car Registry

Address: Kounicova 67

An interpreting assistant is available for you at this location every Monday and Wednesday from 8:00 to 12:00.

You can receive assistance with:

  • Applying for and updating a driving license
  • Changes in car ownership and registration of a new/used car from the CR or abroad
  • Selected agenda related to taxi licenses (to a limited extent)

3) Matrika (Registry Office)

Address: Nádražní 4

An interpreting assistant is available here every Wednesday from 8:00 to 12:00.

At the Registry Office, you can get help with all procedures handled by this office, including but not limited to:

  • Issuing birth certificates
  • Applications related to marriage

Please, remember though that this service is only available for the agenda, for which you do not need court interpreter. If you do (for example, if you are an unmarried couple coming to pick up birth certificate), you still need to arrange this type of interpreting yourself.

It’s possible to ask for help even without booking in advance. If you do not mind a possible wait, you can come directly to the office and simply ask for a Brno Expat Centre interpreting assistant — you will be assisted as soon as possible.

Free Service for You

This interpreting service is provided to you free of charge as a courtesy of the City of Brno. You do not need to pay anything to use this support.

Our Goal

We hope this service will make your communication with authorities smoother, clearer, and less stressful, so you can handle official matters with greater confidence and ease. And of course, at other governmental and municipal authorities, our standard interpreting services remain available as before, provided they are arranged in advance.
