Family Vouchers for Brno Parents: What and How
Family vouchers are online credits for Brno residents for children’s leisure activities. You can get them via the Brno City e-shop BrnoID.
Sports teams and gyms, dojos, scouts, swimming and football clubs, theatres and hobby centres. If your child attends an out-of-school activity, you can get up to 4,000 credits per family for one calendar year (worth approximately 4,000 CZK) to help with the fees.
The deadline for the 2025 credits is 31 November 2025. Any credits that have not been used will expire on the last day of December. If still eligible, you can reapply next year.
What conditions need to be met?
3 conditions to qualify for Brno family vouchers:
- Your children have to be under 18 years of age on the date of application. They need to have a dependent account in BrnoID connected with the applicant’s account (their parent or legal representative).
- The family needs to live in Brno = your official address registered with the Czech authorities must be in one of the City districts (Brno-město)
- The total family net income in the CR (including even social benefits such as parental benefit, etc.) for families with 1 to 2 children in the previous calendar year (in 2024, in case you decide to apply this year or until 30th of June 2026) cannot exceed 750,000 CZK.
- The limit is increased by 200,000 for each extra child in the family.
The conditions are the same for international families living in Brno. The process of applying may vary slightly. It could take a bit longer to get your application for vouchers accepted.
How to apply for the vouchers?
The application form (in English) can be found on the BrnoID website in the Family vouchers section. At least one of the parents needs to set up an account. You will be asked to fill in your (the applicant’s) and the child’s details (including their rodné číslo – their Czech birth identification number) as well as your address in Brno. You will also need to declare your family’s net income – no documentation is required to support that declaration, but there will be random checks carried out. Your application should be granted within a few working days.
If you get an automatic reply saying your application “was not accepted,” send a scan of your child’s birth certificate (or of its pages translated into Czech) to this email address: rodicovskevouchery@mailbrno.cz. Include a short explanation in English saying that you would like to apply for the family vouchers for 2025, but there seems to be a problem with your online application.
The officials in charge of family vouchers (Ms Böhmová or Mr Duda) from the Department of Education and Youth of the City of Brno will get back to you (and hopefully approve the application) shortly. If you have no reply within a few days, you can call (+420 542 172 482), though not everybody who picks up speaks English.
How to use the vouchers?
This is the list of leisure-time activity providers accepting Brno family vouchers (at BrnoID).
Unfortunately, you can’t cover the whole fee with the family vouchers. You have to pay between 20 to 80 % of the fee (the amount depends on the provider). Also, there is always a limit for a minimal number of vouchers you are required to use at once.
You offer your vouchers to an organisation of your choice via your child’s BrnoID profile. You need to do so at least 3 days before the actual activity or before the course term starts. Only then can the provider have enough time to process your application and sort out the payment details. (If a yearly course has several terms, each term qualifies as a new beginning = you can use your vouchers for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th term, etc)
