To popular demand, we have created a new “wine trip” for our expats.

Join us for a hike through vineyards and meet winemaker Vojta Válka in his family winery, learn about wine, taste local products, explore a new place, and meet new people.

Arielle DeSoucey picked a winery for us: “I’ve used Válka’s wines in tastings before, and they are always a big hit. They are certified organic, produce whites, roses, and reds, and are just really great, friendly people. Vojta speaks English perfectly, so it would be the ideal scenario for you. Plus, I like the fact that they’re still a family winery, and they are only 30 minutes from Brno. Their wines are also very reasonably priced, so people could easily pick up a few bottles of what they like.”

Before meeting Vojta in his winery, we will do a two-hour hike to a look-out tower and through the vineyards.

MEETING POINT is Hlavní nádraží (Main train station) Brno on Saturday, August 21 at 9:20.

HIKE
We will follow the “green” tourist trail from Zidlochovice to Lookout tower “Výhon”. Then follow the “blue” trail to Nosislav. Total distance 7km, elevation difference 200m.

WINE TASTING
We will spend the afternoon with Vojta Válka, a winemaker from Nosislav. Vojta will show us his vineyard, take us to the family winery VÁLKA, guide us through a wine tasting and tell us more about winemaking, wine tradition in Moravia, and family history.
The winery sells food from snacks to grilled steak, fish, cheese… Complete menu and price list here (not included in the wine tasting price).
And don’t forget to have a bag and money (cash or credit card) for wine bottles, in case you are planning to buy some to bring home.

TRAVEL TIME AND COST
We will be taking a train from Brno Hlavní nádraží to Židlochovice (at 9:40). Direct train connection, travel time 25 min, one-way ticket for cca 30 CZK.

Return is planned for cca 5 pm, from the bus stop “Nosislav, Kroužek” next to the winery. Bus to train stop Židlochovice or Rajhrad leaves every hour, travel time for both bus and train is 40 min, one-way ticket cca 40 CZK.

The overall cost is 550,- for the wine experience, cca 70,- for the tickets, plus money for the food or wine bottles you might buy.

Register via MAKE A BOOKING at the top of the page. Please note, a minimum of 10 participants is necessary for the event to take place; you will be informed by Thursday, August 18 in case of cancellation.

In case you can not or don’t want to hike with us, you can meet us at the winery around 1 pm.
