On the spring walk in April this year, it turned out there was so much to see that we only got halfway through what was planned. So the fall walk will be what was left over. For those who weren’t there in the spring, what follows is the original description of the walk.
Most people walk through cities horizontally. One group gazes steadily ahead, glancing sideways occasionally at shop windows. The other is zeroed in on their mobiles. But the cityscape has so much more to offer.
On our walk we’ll be looking down and up. Down at the surfaces of streets and pavements and also, with X-ray and pan-temporal vision, at what’s below them now and what was below them in the past. Up at first floors and second floors and higher – roofs, gables, cupolas. In other words, odds and ends, each with a different, quirky story to tell.
