Join us for another one of Don Sparling’s famous walks, all new and original. With his 50+ years of Brno knowledge, he’ll guide you through the city’s history and in his very special way help you understand what makes it what it is.

This fall’s walk will be a bit of a ‘goulash’. We’re going to look at a variety of places where Brno’s citizens once ate, drank and made merry – restaurants, beerhalls, cafés, winerooms and their ilk. Some no longer exist physically, the victims of war and redevelopment and decay and unbridled post-Velvet Revolution capitalism. Others have been transformed and now serve quite different purposes. Along the way we’ll learn something about the patrons these establishments attracted in the course of the past century and a half, and the distinctive and changing nature of pub and café culture over the years.

Meeting place: Moravské náměstí by the statue of Jošt on a horse
