What makes for a perfect evening in spring or summer for the Czechs? One of the options is clear: sitting around a campfire, roasting špekáčky sausages or bread and singing along with a guitar. We have decided to help you experience such an event with us so that you can judge for yourself, what the most romantic or appealing thing about a táborák campfire evening is.
Join our marvellous nature-knowledgeable assistant Agi for a walk through the Hády quarry in Líšeň, arriving at a campfire site all ready for us, to enjoy some roast sausages (or whatever you prefer to roast) with some beer or other drinks, and learning some of the song staples of a Czech guitar singalong – we’ll have songbooks prepared for you so you can follow the words.
Please note that due to some major construction sites, public transport in Židenice runs differently than usual. We will therefore meet at 17:20 the current tram and bus terminus at Vojenská nemocnice and take bus no. 201 at 17:40. Your šalinkarta is still valid for this; if you don’t have one, get a ticket for zones 100+101. If you miss that bus, you can still take bus no. 55 at 17:41 or bus 78 at 17:44 to the Podbělová stop and catch us up.
We’ll follow a path through the Hády quarry, finishing at the campfire site. If you can’t make it in time or want to skip the walk, you can take bus no. x64 to Červený písek later on (e.g. at 19:16 or 19:36) and walk directly to the campfire site.
There is a kiosk selling beer and non-alcoholic drinks and some snacks, you can also buy a complete roasting set – sausages, bread, mustard. Or you can bring whatever you’d like to roast yourself. The whole event is also suitable for families; the nearest bus stop at Červený písek is only 7 minutes away when you decide to return home.
Don’t forget good shoes and warmer clothing or a blanket for the evening. If you play a musical instrument, definitely bring it along! A songbook with chords and song translations will be provided. 🙂
If interested, you can read more about Czech campfire culture in this article about sausages and this one about campfires and music.
