Beat the winter blues with BEC! 😉

You can see the photos from the event here.

Scientific data confirms that mid-January is the most depressing time of year with the highest number of suicides. In many ways, it makes sense that people don’t feel the best at the beginning of the year, as the holidays are over, Christmas decorations are gone and it’s back to work for many of us. The days are still short and cold, the lack of sunlight can leave you feeling sad, with low energy and the desire to isolate. In addition to that, we’re also still coping with the COVID-19 pandemic which affects us every day. We are isolated and separated from family and friends. Many are experiencing job isolation as we’re forced to work from home.

Fortunately, there are several steps you can take to help prevent it. Maintaining your level of exercise and a healthy balanced diet are two of the most basic measures. They elevate your mood and energy levels. It’s definitely good to spend some time outdoors. Even if it’s only for a few minutes, the air and sunshine can help you feel refreshed.

Therefore, we would like to invite you to a winter walk with a small strengthening of our body and soul, with facilitator and nature therapist Martin Nawrath from Terapie mezi stromy. We will look in a playful way at the sources of our inner strength. Through nature and our own senses, we will connect with positive vision and inspiration for the coming days and the new year.

We will meet at the terminus of tram no. 5, Štefánikova čtvrť, and continue by bus no. 57 to Vranov, where our walk begins. Then we’ll follow an easy downhill forest path to Lelekovice (4.7 km) with the programme. Those who want to finish can then take a bus back to town. More active walkers can continue for another 5 km through the valley along the Ponávka stream to Mokrá Hora, again to a public transport stop that will easily bring us back to town before dark.

Regarding bus tickets: you will need an extra ticket / fare because Vranov is outside the zones 100+101. If you have a šalinkarta, you can either buy a simple ticket for 16,- CZK, or use an SMS ticket, or use your credit card in the Beep’n’Go system and select “Additional 1 zone”. If you don’t have šalinkarta, just select a 3-zone ticket in the yellow terminal at the start of your ride and pay with your card, that’s the easiest way.

In any case, you will need good outdoor shoes of course and ideally some snacks and a thermos with hot tea.

To take part, please register using the red button above.

See you there!
