The region with the most expat experts

According to #brnoregion‘s recent report, over 15,000 foreign experts and technology specialists work in the South Moravian Region (SMR), i.e.: some 29.5% of all expats living here, which is significantly higher than the national average (17.5%).

Almost 52.000 expatriates work here. The highest percentage being, of course, Slovaks (25,118 people). Nearly 52,000 foreigners from 132 countries work in this region, and the number has been continually rising.

Knowledge intensive

In 2018, EUR 643 mil. was spent on R&D, which equates to 2.9% of the region’s GDP. Since 2012, the SMR has boasted the highest level of knowledge intensity in the entire country, and even ranks among the best in all of Central and Eastern Europe.
